Alcohol and Domestic Violence

April 14, 2014 Resources, Useful Information

Alcohol abuse can lead to other sorts of abuse — mental, emotional, and physical. Today, we’re going to focus on the physical abuse that can result from abusing alcohol. Domestic violence is often seen in relationships where one or more partners abuse alcohol. Domestic violence can include emotional, physical, verbal, economic, and sexual abuse.

Though correlation isn’t causation, studies (source link) often show frequent alcohol abuse in men who batter their wives. As well, alcohol is known to lessen inhibition and increase risky behavior. It is no surprise that alcohol abusers would engage in violence.

Below, you can find a comprehensive list of links that shed further light on alcohol abuse and domestic violence, along with resources to seek help if you or someone you know is experiencing violence of this sort.
